A Letter to Hope 2.0

As we close the month of February, I want to share one last thing in honor of International Boost Your Self-Esteem Month!

Remember you deserve to be happy, truly happy with a joy which comes from within.  Believe in yourself just as others believe in you.  See yourself through their eyes.  You are AWESOME. Feel it.  Believe it.  And know you deserve it.

I don’t know about you BUT I struggle with self-esteem – from the comparison game in my business to still seeing the 295 pound me instead of the new 175 pound me.  I practice visualizing, where you want to be every day, then take the steps to make it a reality.  It isn’t easy but I am determined to reach my goals even though they scare the HELL out of me!

Someone suggested I write a letter to the future me so I could see how far I have come.  It also helped me to visualize the future and how it feels to reach my goals.   Have you ever written a letter to future you?  Why not try it?  Make sure it contains positive affirmation of the goals you want to achieve.  Remember, the Law of Attraction?

Here is my letter to Hope 2.0 telling her how proud I was of all she has accomplished in her life:

Dear Hope 2.0:

I am so proud of all you have accomplished in the last 5 years:

  • Your office  is organized.  I am glad you finally have a part-time assistant to help with the busy work.  The family room looks AMAZING.  I know your team loves hanging out with you and learning all of your great business tips.
  • Where did you say your last cruise went to?  WOW!  I know hubby loves the fact you can take a vacation every year and you treat.  What a great way to say thank you to him for taking care of you every day.  Of course, those mini getaways are nice too.  You can never have enough of them.
  • Your team has grown by over 100 girls.  Having hubby there when they celebrated your accomplishments on stage was the best part.  I know you cried because he never wanted to enter the pink bubble but he was so proud of you.  He finally sees your business as a business and the impact you are having on others.
  • Your calendar is always full.  Your hostesses are scheduling their next party so they never miss out on getting on your calendar
  • Your Annual Hostess Appreciation party has become the talk of the town.  In 5 years, it is the must attend end of the year event
  • The many charities you have helped with your seasonal events for kids and families are a blessing.  Don’t forget the multiple fundraisers you hold every month.  Not only are you helping organizations find discretionary money but you are also helping people who are struggling. You never forget where you came from – a homeless, addict who just wanted to please everyone.  By remembering, you are able to encourage others
  • You have inspired so many on your team to reach for their dreams, to overcome their inner gremlins and as a result their lives are changed forever
  • Your willingness to share your office systems, your party ideas, presentations and even allow consultants to tag along with you whether they are on your team or not is a great example of a leader.

I want you to remember success is always within your reach.  There will be struggles but it simply means there are lessons to be learned.  Your  journey is yours alone but others can learn from it.  Comparison is not in the plan.

I am not there yet BUT I am on the road to being Hope 2.0.  I am not waiting for “when” or “if”, I am claiming the blessings NOW.  I have seen things change in my business since I did this exercise – thank you Eryka. Give it a chance, what have you got to loose.  You deserve to have all of the blessings waiting for you.  I can’t wait to celebrate your successes.

What about you?  What would your letter look like?  Share your thoughts with us…

Have a ThirtyOne-derful day!

We Are Enough!

You alone are enough. You have nothing to prove to anybody.” ~Maya Angelou

she believed

Over the last few weeks, I have been stomping on some inner gremlins – the ones that I thought were long gone .  Being over-tired from working too many hours, health issues and being stuck on my weight loss journey AGAIN caused those gremlins to chatter.  They started to tell me how I should look and where I should be in my business. Yup, when they start chattering they jump all over to see what buttons they can push.   They started to tell me that I would be happier if I was thinner, prettier, more successful – you know the list, right?

The truth is that am enough. And if someone else doesn’t see my worth, it’s okay. I am enough!

My WOOHOO Wednesday posts are inspired by an amazing Abundance Coach, Eryka Peskin. She has helped me to see my worth.  She has helped me to find the beauty on the inside of me, instead of the just the beauty that is reflected in a mirror.

The truth is that losing five pounds or getting to my goal weight won’t make me any happier.  I have stopped identifying my physical appearance with my self-worth. I am not my weight, or my jean size. I am enough. I am me.

Are you wondering how an ABUNDANCE Coach helped me to crush those gremlins and change my thinking?  She showed me how to CELEBRATE all aspects of my life.  Today, we are going to CELEBRATE our body and the beauty of it. WOW!  Those groans are really LOUD!

Your body has allowed you to do amazing things. It provides the housing for our mind and our spirit, and its intricacies and functions are astoundingly amazing. No, I have NOT lost my mind. I totally get that you struggle with finding something that you LOVE about your body.  Every time this exercise comes up, I cringe too BUT each time it gets a little easier.

Here’s a few:

  • I celebrate my beautiful brown eyes that allow me to see the beauty of the world and the changing of the season.
  • I celebrate my wonderful curly hair that I am embracing to let the creative and natural aspects of my personality blossom.  It lets me shine without conforming to the world’s idea that “straight hair” is the best look for professional women.
  • I celebrate the aches and pains that I have developed that remind me to take care of myself by eating healthier and resting.  I love that these aches and pains are helping me to take better care of myself.

We have so much to give, and we are perfect just the way we are.  Others may criticize and judge;  let them.  I want you to know that you are amazing and perfect just the way you are. Criticize yourself less, love yourself more, and you will be happier.

Now, I challenge you to do the same thing.  CELEBRATE your body.  Here is how I was shown to CELEBRATE:

Celebrations 1 & 2:
Let the first two be celebrations of your magnificent body.  It can be things your body enables you to do, parts of your body you love–whatever brings you joy about your body, celebrate that!  (And I KNOW we can ALLLLLLL come up with two!  So do it!)

Celebration 3: If you have pain or illness, celebrate the pain/illness (<—I know this is so, so, SO hard)!

You may think it is ridiculous, but we spend so much time looking in the mirror criticizing than celebrating ourselves. See what a difference it makes when you start CELEBRATING instead of listening to the chatter of those inner gremlins.

Celebrate Negativity

2014-05-15 21.57.56

Are you struggling with your direct sales business?  Are parties becoming more difficult to book?  Do you feel like you are tapping the same people all the time?

As a result, are you frustrated, or having self-doubt, discouraged or maybe even a little depressed?  Have you resorted to comparing yourself to others?  Maybe you have said “I am just not good at sales” or “I guess I picked the wrong company”.

The truth is that your negative thoughts are affecting your ability to communicate clearly.  Those same thoughts affect your motivation, your perspective, your ability share (not sell) or even notice when there is an unexpected opportunity.

Negativity takes many forms.  For those of us in direct sales who rely on our people skills to build our business – our state of mind is directly proportional to our results.

I know, saying “eliminate negativity” is sometimes easier said then done, right?

Think about the times you feel positive.  You are optimistic.  You have clarity and can see your vision (or why).  You enthusiastically interact with others.  Best of all, you’re in a much better place to influence and lead others.  So monitoring your emotional state is one of the keys to success for many with a home based businesses.

I have just spent a week “celebrating” my anger/frstration.  I know crazy, right?  It was an exercise from abundance coach Eryka Peskin.  By celebrating our anger and frustrations, we gain a clue to our desires.   That was powerful for me.  Our anger (and negativity) is often triggered when our desires aren’t met…or when they’re actively disregarded or devalued. If you’re angry (or negative) about something, it’s a great opportunity to explore it and figure out EXACTLY which of your desires aren’t being met..AND what you can do to change that.

So, when you are experiencing negativity – STOP and name the type of negativity you’re experiencing.  Is it fear, judgment, impatience, etc.?  This is the hardest part because we are usually so caught in what provoked our feelings that we can’t see anything else.

Now that you have recognized it, what made you negative?  Identify the desire that you wanted.  Was it more income, more girl time, to have me time, etc?  What was your desire that was not met?  State your desire!

Next is to “Have compassion for yourself and that you experiencing this”.  Don’t judge yourself for being negative!  By judging yourself, it will only make it harder to move forward and take some positive steps.

Celebrate the negativity, identify the desire and make a plan to reach that desire.  Give yourself a mental hug. Or get someone to give you a hug. Or both!  Take a few deep breaths and relax.

When you replace the negative thoughts with a clear vision of  your desire, it will be natural to stay positive.  There may be some side effects of the negative feelings so you will need to focus on the new vision.

This simple formula of celebrating the negativity so that you can identity your desires has helped me to get back on track.  Maintaining a positive attitude will allow you to function at a higher level of effectiveness in your business.

Here is an example:  I celebrate that I am disappointed in my sales and bookings for the last few months.  I have a desire for a successful business and to do that, I desire structure that allows me to connect with people.

Celebrate your negativity today along with YOUR desire – share them with us!
