Today, we celebrate #GivingTuesday. Today marks the fifth year of a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration.
#GivingTuesday is celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I know you are thinking “we give all year long”, right? The truth is many times we plan to give but the moment passes us by – lack of funds, lack of time or just “a senior moment”.
#GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. As individuals, we have causes near and dear to our hearts. Those who may have helped us personally over the years or maybe made a difference in the life of a family member. Maybe it is just because you can relate to an organization’s mission.
One of the best ways to get involved is in your own community is through #GivingTuesday……
Here are a few of my favorite causes …
- Redeem-Her was born in 2005 to create second chances for those who need it most. Their mission is to offer help and hope to women reentering the community from rehabilitation facilities, jails and prisons. They have helped more than 150 women and your support will help them to make a difference in the lives of women in need of a second chance. No donation is too large or small. If you would like to help us them with their vision of providing second chances for more women, donations can be made at: http://www.redeem-her.org/donate
- South Jersey AIDS Alliance is a caring, compassionate Organization dedicated to the fight against HIV/AIDS. Located in Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland and Camden Counties , their vision is to be recognized as a dynamic organization able to efficiently and effectively provide the diverse and integrated program delivery needed to meet the challenges of the rapidly changing nature of the worldwide HIV/AIDS epidemic.
- Bethel AME Church which also houses Bethel Development Corporation and Bethel Learning Center is the oldest church in the City of Millville. It houses the longest running soup kitchen in Cumberland County providing hot home-cooked meals four days per week. The Learning Center is open to children 6 weeks to 5 years of age as well as offering Before and After Care programs. All programs at Bethel are focused on giving a hand up to those who are struggling – the addicted, the chronically unemployed and the homeless.
#GiveBackWithMe is my way of bringing a smile to someone who is struggling. Every month, I select one individual who will receive a gift from me along with some encouraging words to let them know they are special and worthy. To remind them, no matter what the struggle there is someone who cares for them. Click HERE and help me to make a difference in the life of someone. Nominations are taken 365 days a year…. one selected each month.
This November 29th, join the movement and give – whether it’s some of your time, a donation, gift or the power of your voice in your local community. #RandomActofKindness will #makeadifference in the lives of others. It’s a simple idea. Whether you come together with your family, your community, your company or your organization, find a way to give back and then share your idea.
Share with us YOUR favorite cause with a link on how others can donate to them…Have a ThirtyOne-derful day!
MORNING! Many of you may be seeing this post late in the day because you are part of the CRAZINESS called Black Friday. As I sit here snuggled at home enjoying the girls, I can’t help but think of past Black Friday mornings…
Black Friday has an array of memories….
The years Belinda and I camped out at Walmart to do holiday shopping for my best friend’s kids. She couldn’t get there so we did the shopping and put it on layaway for her. It was a game for us while others were getting crazy knocking each other over for what they thought was a GREAT deal.
Then there was the year the call came my Mom was in an accident on her way to work and was in the trauma unit at ACMC. She was hit head on by someone headed to a Black Friday sale at Best Buy AND she was on her cell phone. Our lives changed that day for several months as mom healed and we all thanked God he kept her safe.
The years Belinda came home from college and we headed out for “kid and me” time. Not crazy early but just a day to see what deals we could find after the crazies headed home.
Then there was the year of late night shopping with the girls. It was fun scouring the shelves for great deals. Trimming the Christmas tree like we did when Belinda was little on Thanksgiving weekend topped the events while we shared stories related to each of the holiday ornaments.
Memories of happy time and sad times but all are ones that I will cherish. How are you spending YOUR Black Friday? Shopping? Resting? Working? Visiting with family? Share your favorite memories with us.
Have a ThirtyOne-derful day!
Happy Saturday Everyone!
I LOVE Tastefully Simple and how easy it makes my life. I also have found that I LOVE Younique .
So I have decided to team up with the wonderful Nicole and Rose to host a BINGO event on Thursday, April 14th. It will be held at Wurlitzers on Route 9 in Toms River. Doors will open at 6:30PM and BINGO will start at 7PM. 9 games for $10. Additional cards can be earned or purchased for $2 each. Lots of fun and prizes. CLICK HERE to get in on the fun.
Some of my TS favorites:
Onion Onion is the BEST way to add the onion flavor to a recipe WITHOUT the mess of chopping and crying. I use it is my meatloaf and chili. I love that there is no chopping and complaining about my burning eyes.
Being gluten-free, I do like the GlutenFree Vanilla Bean Pound Cake Mix. I didn’t even know it was gluten free! These are my top two but many of the TS products are staples in my cabinet.
As for Younique, they are best known for their mascara BUT I don’t use any because of my glaucoma. I am really careful about any eye makeup. I did find the Beachfront Bronzer and use it all year long. Quick and easy for a glow that reminds me of summer.
So, mark your calendar and join us for some fun. Want to know how YOU can host your own BINGO event? We can do a FREE event (WHAT??) and you can raise money for your favorite cause. Ask me for the details.
Have a ThirtyOne-derful day!
Today I want to CELEBRATE you! Many of you have been a part of my “giving back” program this year. We have done chemo comfort bags and zipper pouches for our soldiers. We have raised money for Smiles for Trevor and Relay for Life and we have helped families. When I began my journey with Thirty One, I wanted to make a difference in the lives women and families and you are helping me do it!
To date, the programs have been a success with the help of my AMAZING customers, hostesses, family and friends. Individuals who believe in the cause, or just want to help. Okay, can you guess where this is leading…. YOU GOT IT – a new month, a new project.
You have heard of the “Back to School” campaigns that provide kids with backpacks and school supplies, right? These programs help each child start off the school year on the right foot.
This year, I will be providing THERMAL LUNCH TOTES to children. I will be using my commission to fill the thermals with some healthy snacks along with tips on inexpensive ideas for a healthy lunch or snack. I mean let’s be honest, the FREE lunch program doesn’t always have kid friendly foods. No hate mail PLEASE because I know that there are some places that have great meals but let’s be honest, not all of them do.
So, for $20, you can sponsor a thermal tote filled with healthy snacks for a child in need. If you want to help BUT you don’t have $20, donate what you can – $1, $2, $5, or $10. Finances are tight BUT you know a business that may want to help, GREAT! Let me know or forward this information to them. I will supply a list of business sponsors in every thermal tote along with blogging about them – FREE advertising for helping out a great cause. Where else could they get FREE advertising for $20 or $40?
Won’t you help to make a difference today? You can fill out the form below or contact me directly. I will be happy to invoice you. Let’s bring a smile to the face of as many children as we can this school year. The deadline is July 9th!
Have ThirtyOne-derful day!
