On My Way…..NOT!

Today’s blog post has been re-written many times.  First filled with the excitement of earning the Leadership Incentive trip and heading on a FREE cruise with my daughter.  Then it was about the delayed cruise and spending some time in NC with Belinda.  This morning, I am re-writing again…
The Leadership Incentive Trip has officially been cancelled. Irma entered our lives and changed everything!  No, I don’t mean the cute clothes from LuLa Roe.  I mean the devastating hurricane which is leaving its mark every where it lands.  Devastating the Carribean as it makes it way to Florida and the US.
I will admit, I had a pity party last night.  I long for some quality time with my daughter but sadly if Irma continues on the projected track, they will be in its path.  I have weathered many a hurricane but at the ripe old age of 60, I decided staying home was probably a better idea.
Since the blog posts are already written for the next week while I was supposed to be traveling, I will still be sharing some of my top bog posts from the past.  Some may be tweaked but others will just be “throwbacks” of my most popular ones.  I have been reflecting on the earning period for the Leadership Incentive trip and why I was successful this time when I hadn’t been in the past.
If you are trying to change an aspect of your life, here are some tips which helped me – thank you Patty Lennon

1. Decide to succeed.

There is a goal you are striving for right now which is deeply personal and vital to you. Remove the possibility of NOT succeeding from your mind right now. This means each time you fall down, you get back up because any failure is temporary.  I will say, utilizing this mindset every month has helped me reach my monthly goals even during the dreaded “J” months.

I wanted to earn this trip as a gift for hubby for our 5th wedding anniversary.  I wanted him to experience my “pink bubble” so he would understand why it is so important to me.  So, in my mind success became inevitable. I was no longer willing to NOT succeed. Which leads to …

2. Get Support.

When you are reaching for a goal you have not achieved before whether it’s growing your business to a new level, changing your health or improving your relationships you will do far better if you have help.  Who can support you in achieving your goal?

I have been sharing my monthly goals with everyone – my team, my customers and basically anyone who would listen. They celebrated and encouraged me every step of the way.  When Negative Nellie stopped for a visit, I looked for someone to help me kick her to the curb.

3. Don’t Give Up.

Whatever goal is most important to you right now it is critical you not give up, especially if the goal is related to your business. The truth is most things fail the first time  around especially in business – whether it’s a new message, promotion or marketing campaign. It is NORMAL.  Everyone falls down. Your choice (and the choice which defines those who succeed) is whether you get back up.  Everything is possible when you make the decision to succeed. No matter what happens do not give up!

With my first LIT earned, what is next for me and my business?  I will admit planning for September has been a struggle.  A holiday weekend led into getting ready for a week away.  I was hoping earning the trip would keep me motivated but the truth is, Vacation Veronica is knocked on my door. As I ponder what to do this week, I am setting my goal for September and am working on a plan to earn the Leadership Incentive Trip again next year.

Using these tips has helped me in my business so I am I am going to apply them to my weight loss journey to see what happens.  I am just 7 pounds away from being back at goal weight so it is non-negotiable.  I want to celebrate reaching my goal and not look back.

The truth is “the Divine will light your path with miracles to make it easier as you go.”  Send your positive energy into the Universe.  What is your goal?

Have a ThirtyOne-derful day!

Commitment Creates Miracles

Thank you Patty Lennon for the inspiration and tips for today’s post.

Every month I set goals both personally and in my business.  Sometimes they are achieved while other times they seem too far to even consider.  As many of you know earning Thirty One’s Leadership Incentive trip was a goal which had eluded me for years and this year, I was committed to earning it and guess what I did.  What was the difference this year?  This year seemed so much easier than the past.  The requirements weren’t any easier, in fact, some would say they were tougher.

Then I received an email from Patty which shed some light on to what it was which made the difference. So, if you are looking to change any aspect of your life this process has worked pretty consistently for Patty (and now for me).

1. Decide to succeed.

There is a goal you are striving for right now which is deeply personal and vital to you. Remove the possibility of NOT succeeding from your mind right now. This means each time you fall down, you get back up because any failure is temporary.

I shared my goal with my team, my customers and basically anyone who would listen.  They celebrated and encouraged me with each “star” earned.  My accountability partner pushed me to keep going even when Negative Nellie stopped for a visit.

3. Don’t Give Up.

Whatever goal is most important to you right now it is critical you not give up, especially if the goal is related to your business. In my business most things fail the first time – whether it’s a new message, promotion or marketing campaign. It is NORMAL.  Everyone falls down. Your choice (and the choice which defines those who succeed) is whether you get back up.  Everything is possible when you make the decision to succeed. No matter what happens do not give up!

So now LIT is earned, what is next for me and my business?  I will admit the last two weeks have been a struggle to get back on track.  I actually thought the roller coaster ride of earning the trip would keep me motivated but the truth is, it isn’t.  So I am working on a new goal.  Of course Thirty One has helped by adding another incentive – Wishes Come True….

I am going follow this same process again in my business.  PLUS, I am going to apply it to my weight loss journey to see what happens.  I am just 18 pounds away from being back at goal weight so it is non-negotiable.  I want to celebrate reaching my goal and not look back.

The truth is “the Divine will light your path with miracles to make it easier as you go.”  Send your positive energy into the Universe.  What is your goal?

Have a ThirtyOne-derful day!

The Journey

7db6fd704b6e4ea1b9c22fd3ee6ac9a8

Happy Monday!  I am slowly adjusting to having weekends off and loving it.  I am enjoying going to church on Sunday so I can refresh and recharge.  I enjoy getting up early and staying in my sweats.  Retirement #2 is a little bit easier than Retirement #1 was.

This past weekend, I have been reflecting on my weight loss journey.  I realized how much it and my business journey have in common.  When I started my weight loss journey many years ago with Weight Watchers, I thought when I reached goal weight there would be a magic wand and I would never have to worry about my weight again. Yes, I do sometimes live in a fantasy world.  I reached goal weight in 2015 and within two years managed to forget most of what I learned.  No, I didn’t gain ALL of the 130 pounds back but I felt like it despite the fact it was only 25 pounds.

As I walked into Weight Watchers a little over 2 weeks ago, it was like coming home.  Familiar faces who didn’t judge where I was.  Hugs from friends who reminded me how far I had come and how well I was keeping the weight off.  No more excuses.  Time to be honest with myself (and those around me).

I DID IT!  Time  for me to take my own advice and hit the RESET button.  Weekly Weight Watcher meetings were a HUGE part of my weight loss journey.  When I hit goal weight, I thought “I got this”.  As the weight slowly crept on, I blamed health issues and wasn’t really honest with myself (or others).  I longed for the magic pill or the diagnosis of a thyroid problem to explain the weight gain. Crazy, right?

As I sat in the first meeting, I found I was there in body but not in mind. You have been there, right?  When you are half listening but the message doesn’t really sink in. Or, you are listening and at the same time checking emails and Facebook messages? Multi-tasking.  I do the same thing in my business.  Multi-tasking.  Finding reasons (okay, excuses) for why things are not working.  The truth is, when I commit 100% to listening and take action on my plan – things happen.

The scale is a great indicator of how well I have stuck to the program while a full calendar does the same in my business.  Consistency will help me to achieve my goals.  Achievements , large or small, “should” be the encouragement I need to keep moving forward, right?  The truth is, I am always looking for perfection – comparing myself and my progress to others.

When I walk into a Weight Watcher meeting room inspiration surrounds me.  The question is – will I absorb the positive or will I focus on the negative?

A sign shows Jennifer Hudson and says “I’m not perfect, I am HUMAN”. A cliche saying for some but a light bulb moment. It reminds me how I compare myself  (and my business) to others.

Let me ask you, do you have ANT?  No, I don’t mean the little critters.  It is an acronym for “automatic negative thinking”. I have them and I am sure you do, at least sometimes.  Those thoughts when things don’t go exactly as we planned.

Life is journey without a finish line!  My weight loss journey may have taken longer than others and seems like it will never end.  Honestly, it never will because when I reach goal weight again the goal will change to maintaining it.

As for my business, consistency will pay off and my calendar will be full.  Will I stop or will I maintain what I have done to keep my calendar full?  How often do we coast on our laurels when we achieve our goals?

Enjoy the journey without rushing towards the finish line.  I need to slow down and enjoy this roller coaster ride despite the fact I am NOT a fan of roller coasters. It seems like we are always rushing to something or somewhere when we need to “stop and smell the roses”.

Although our paths may be different, the journey we follow has many of the same attributes.  The key is to NOT compare your journey to others but to learn from them.  No matter what your goal or your journey is, focus on the positive aspects (large or small) and STOMP on the ANT!  Thank you for joining me in my Monday mindless ramble.

Have a ThirtyOne-derful day!
